Measure the print

Frame size means the picture, not the outside

A frame described as 8x10 holds an 8x10 print - the outer dimensions are larger. Four points before ordering.

  1. Order by print size. Measure the photograph, not the space on the wall. The listing gives both figures where the supplier does.
  2. A mount changes the print size. Where a frame includes a mount, the visible print area is smaller than the frame size.
  3. Glass and acrylic weigh differently. Large glass frames need a proper wall fixing; acrylic is lighter and safer above a bed or cot.
  4. Gallery sets are sold as a layout. The set works at the spacing shown; changing it changes how much wall you need.
